Focus
“Don’t get ahead of me.”
Have you ever been minding your own business, driving down the road, and something caught your attention? That’s exactly what happened to me. I was driving to my destination and happened to see this steady stream of smoke moving in the sky. It’s pace was steady. We were headed in the same direction. It almost seemed parallel to me, but slightly faster. As I considered matching what I assumed was it’s speed I was careful not to pass it. There was a familiar speed trap and camera light that I would soon approach as well. I wanted to obey the laws of the land yet not impede traffic. I must admit, this thing had my attention. I had to make a choice that if I want to keep my eyes on it, or give all of my attention to the path I was on. It was in that decision making moment that I could hear the Lord say, “Don’t get ahead of me.”
Although I was very aware of what was ahead, we don’t always know what’s coming. Some news or information could catch you off guard, cause you to stumble, or get stuck. Do your best to stay on track. Focus (finish one course until success). You will reach your predestined place safely and whole if you are able to pay attention. Distractions are everywhere, good and bad. When we keep our eyes on the prize we win it. We focus on what’s in front of us while being mindful of our surroundings. Don’t get too far ahead of yourself. That’s what provokes anxiety, fear, and exhaustion. Your predestined place of prosperity is waiting on you.
Blessings are chasing after you. God is walking with you, at a steady, even pace, the whole way. Remember, it’s always good to ride with reliable, alert, drivers that have your best interest in heart. It is especially beneficial to have one with you that will not only allow you to drive, but will take the will when you get weary. Remember, “don’t get ahead of Him.” Trust the process. Stay the course. You’re going to get there, in one piece, with joy.
